Grand Rapids is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Grand Rapids follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. Great Sushi spot on Beltline! Tucked in an inconspicuous outlet strip, but don't be fooled. The rolls are phenomenal and have always tasted fresh & flavorful when we've visited. They have a great variety of specialty rolls with a good depth of spicy & sweet options. The Miso soup has great umami and is a good starter to any meal. It's slightly tight in the seating, and somewhat cold. But not to an uncomfortable level. Prices are a little on the higher-end side, although for the quality I would say it is worth it.

Jaku has the most reasonably priced, generously portioned and richly flavored sake nagiri that I have found in all of Grand Rapids. The edamame is excellent; I highly recommend the spicy option. My wife doesn't enjoy spice; so we just get the garlic and just that makes the edamame delicious. Miso soup is always good; hot tea is served in individual pots and sets the mood for a nice cozy meal. The atmosphere is relaxed and quiet, kind of a rainy day zen mood with fire crackling. Excellent place for a date or quiet meeting. Food presentation is excellent, they serve most sushi rolls on a leaf with toppings and drizzling that makes each dish an art masterpiece. One roll I'd recommend trying is the Almond Joy roll; even though I usually avoid any searing whatsoever the flavor is Jaku signature. Pricing is fair for the generous portion sizes in my opinion. Coupled with the experience, Jaku is one of my favorite sushi locations.

I met my friend here for her birthday today. It was the first time for both of us. Our server, Reyna, was great. She offered us suggestions and was very patient with us. We took a long time to choose because the menu is quite large and everything sounded good. I ended up ordering the tonkatsu bento as I'm not much of a sushi fan. It was delicious and I highly recommend it. My friend loved the tempura rolls she got, too. We'll be back!

Jaku Sushi is hands-down our favorite spot for Japanese and Korean cuisine in Grand Rapids. We frequent the Caledonia location, but visited the North location on a date night. They consistently deliver an amazing dining experience that never disappoints, regardless of which location you visit. Their menu strikes the perfect balance between classic sushi and inventive, fun fusion. The Crunch Munch Burrito is a must-try for a unique treat, and their Dolsot Bibimbap is some of the best in the area! The atmosphere is trendy yet welcoming, and the service is always prompt and friendly. Whether we are there for a quick lunch or a dinner celebration, Jaku always delivers a five-star meal. Highly, highly recommended!

Do not judge this spot by its cover. The decor is trendy without being over the top. The food is wonderful, full of flavor, fresh, and presented with style. The service is fantastic. They also do a booming takeout business. The establishment was almost full the entire time I ate. I have not had any of the rolls yet but will begin trying something new next time. =) Come visit them if you have not tried it yet, you will not be disappointed!
